Special Appeal: Recreate the Tara Shrine Room

We are raising money for the new Tara shrine room.  As we all know the beautiful shrine room in 250 is not accessible for all people, particularly those with mobility issues.  A number of us really feel that in order to make Dharma open to all people in a beautiful and culturally authentic way we must recreate the Tara shrine room.

This means that the whole Tara room should be re-imagined, becoming thoroughly traditional and Tibetan in style and open and beautiful for casual visitors and seasoned volunteers alike. It must be the focus for the general public encountering authentic Buddhism in Cardiff.

For these reasons we need to contribute to the following:

  • New Tibetan Style shrine cabinet painted traditionally and statues to fill it.

  • Traditional painted walls and decorations

  • Newly laid floor matching with the rest of the ground floor in 248.

  • Suitable wall hangings and paintings appropriate where Dharma can be taught, learned and practised for the benefit of the community.

  • Neat and tidy storage.

As we all know the Buddhist Path comprises six paramitas, one of the most important being generosity. It is unfair for practitioners to rely on the giving of others without contributing in some way to the bigger picture. This is part of the Bodhisattva path. We urge anyone to help in whichever way they can, big or small, to furthering this work of Dharma in Cardiff which will benefit themselves and all people connected to them.

We need to raise £2,000 minimum in order to achieve this. Please contribute if you can financially or by helping out with renovations which will be starting from 8th June an auspicious day to begin. Let’s make this room a beacon of Dharma and hope in the community we live in. A place of beauty and peace which we can all call our home.
