Welcome to
Kagyu Samye Dzong Cardiff
Tibetan Buddhist Meditation Centre for World Peace & Health
Welcome to Cardiff Kagyu Samye Dzong, serving the people of Cardiff and the surrounding areas.
We are a community of experienced meditators and professional Meditation and Mindfulness trainers and are affiliated with the world-famous Samye Ling Monastery in Scotland. The first - and largest - Tibetan Buddhist monastery founded in the West, by Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche and the late Choje Akong Rinpoche, and overseen by Lama Yeshe Losal Rinpoche.
We transmit and practise the teachings of the Karma Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism, which have been handed down without break from master to disciple from the first Karmapa to the present, His Holiness the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa Ogyen Trinley Dorje.
We organise and run regular classes in Buddhist meditation, philosophy and Vajrayana Buddhism. We also host mindfulness courses in conjunction with Samye Foundation Wales in Cardiff, Caerphilly and the surrounding areas, as well as retreats and other events.
Our courses in meditation are not aimed at converting people to Buddhism and everybody is welcome to attend, to learn meditation for therapeutic reasons and to overcome the stresses and strains of modern life.
End of Year Closure
Peace and Warmest Wishes to all
We will close for a break over Christmas and New Year, from 20th December until 7th January 2026. Enjoy time with your friends and families or take some time in retreat, in nature, or by the sea to restore yourself.
There will be some changes to the regular programme in the New Year. Some weekly meditation times will change. For example, online and in person meditations on Tuesdays will no longer be offered. Guru Rinpoche Puja will move to 5.45pm on Wednesdays.
